Stop pulling the sword/arrow when you are supposed to lock the front door and go on your kneels! Apostle Paul (when he was still Saul the defensive) pulled the arrow, got permission to kill and mane true believers because he wanted to help God kill hypocrites (God’s supposed enemies), whereas he was the hypocrite, no wonder he heard on His way to Damascus. ‘Saul Saul, why art thou persecuting me?’ You wonder why God didn’t ask him why art thou persecuting believers? Now I have had situations where I refused to bow in the face of physical confrontations, then I went in the sanctuary at home, spoke in tongues for hours and prayed and something that would have taken weeks gets sorted, then Jesus went to pray when His time was come/near for grace to obey and lay it all down (His life for us), but Peter was very busy sleeping and slumbering so at the hour, he drew his sword (defensive), at the very sight of opposition whereas he was supposed to pray and watch so that he does not fall head deep into temptation (he was dozing/fast asleep when he was to keep watch during the night hours -preparatory stage before the real battle).
2 Corinthians 10;4–6 says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled”.
Believers wake up from your slumber, stop drawing the sword, go on the offensive not defensive. The devil is here till he is finally put away in the second coming of Jesus Christ. The devil is a condemned criminal and is the defensive not offensive but he wants us to think otherwise. The truth is we have been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ so we are more than conquerors every time in every battle and are never disadvantaged, we have heavens host of angels, archangels, weapons of spiritual welfare (faith, perseverance, obedience, patience, forbearance, peace, joy, riches, blessings etc all in Revelations 5:12 everything Jesus died for to give us) at our berk and call, heavenly witnesses that have gone home before us cheering us on to the finish line but the devil has nothing left with him but his defeated self and defeated folks/fiends(principalities, powers, demons,rulers of darkness, spiritual wickedness in high places) and all of them have been sentenced to eternal death in hell fire. Imagine you (a young king/queen; you are created to rule/reign and are undergoing training/instructions on how to do this in the fullness of time (as you grow into maturity), placed in a location with a condemned criminal counting his days to death/hell, what position of authority would you take? Offensive/defensive? Heavenly father, on this mission earth, I refuse to be on the defensive but offensive, Holy Spirit remind me always of who I am so that I will not fail in this assignment in Jesus Name Amen! Every time God fights for us we hold our peace.God takes the glory! Recently, I got into a lot of real physical battles or rather the devil tried so hard to get me in it but I started then cautioned myself quickly through the correction by the Holy Spirit, like my assistant resident pastor would say, ‘I reasoned myself by the help of the Holy Spirit out of that seemingly impossible situation quickly and went on my kneels and God took over and on the feet washing night, victory was sealed for me in Jesus Name Amen! Thank you Jesus and I am glad that I belong to Jesus! You too can do the-same.
Defensive =Carnality (physical weapons). Darkness is defensive (drawing sword and fighting physical lost battles), it is saying I can do it myself outside God/grace/love that is not through God but ‘by myself’.
Offensive = Spirituality (God my defense, Spiritual weapons of welfare). Light puts things in right perspective using spiritual weapons of welfare. Yes, I can ‘through God!’
